Crime Investigation Australia appeared on Foxtel for 3 seasons, i worked on the first 2. It was mostly overlays and subtle animations such as cell towers beeping or glowing, transmitting etc. The graphics never looked that good to me as i was working on them, but it was what they wanted and looked fine in the show once it was on air. I had a fair bit of freedom, I would just get the script and work out what I would do, they always approved them. it was a great experience, lots of late nights, but also frustraing being on call for very little work each week. it made it hard to subsidise my income with other work. A few things of note about my work there was when i started, I had no experience at all with this kind of graphics, but I managed to do what was needed. The other was that i was at the time the very last freelance artist working on a show on Foxtel. The CEO of Fox Australia actually called me in for a lunch with him and the head of the art department, and discussed with me how i was accomplishing this, as they had a team work on each show. In the end they took over my contract for the last season, which was my fault as I didnt realise that was the point of the meeting. I was a bit nieve I guess, I thought they were going to offer me a job.
